Metallic Impregnation

POCO produces two metallic impregnations for graphites-copper and tungsten. Copper increases both the electrical and thermal conductivity of graphite. The addition of tungsten allows the graphite to be visible under x-ray.

  

Tungsten

POCO produces a specialty, blended material, AXF-5Q10W for biomedical applications. This material combines high strength premium graphite with tungsten to produce a material, which is both strong and visible under x-ray. The tungsten impregnation is 10% by weight.

 

Copper

Copper increases both electrical and thermal conductivity of the graphite. In some applications, copper impregnated materials offers increased wear resistance for long life. Both semiconductor and industrial materials have a copper impregnated grade, typically a 5 micron grain size material.
